Real Estate Listing Website

The following is the 9 Step process for creating and editing a real estate listing on your new website. Click the images to view in full screen.

Step 1: In this step you will be logging in to your admin account to add or edit existing listings.

  1. Go to www.yourwebsite.com/wp-admin.
  2. Enter your user name and password.
  3. Click Log In.

Step 2: Get acquainted with the layout of the admin area.

  1. Notice the left side of the admin area has a number of items including Dashboard, Posts and Media.
  2. The Posts page is where you will be posting your listings.
  3. Media is where you will upload images for your listings.

Step 3: In this step we will navigate to the create post screen.

  1. To create a new post click on Posts.
  2. Click Add New.

Step 4: In this step we will enter  the listing information and publish the post.

  1. Enter the Title of the Post. This could be the name of the neighborhood and the amount of bedrooms or something to that extent. It is ultimately up to you what you want to name your listings, but they must be named.
  2. Type a description of the listing.
  3. In the Listing Information area enter the MLS number for the listing and the Listing Price (We will enter images in a later step).
  4. Click Publish

Step 5: Next we will navigate to the upload media screen to use in the gallery for our listing.

  1. Click Media
  2. Click Add New

Step 6: Here you can upload images to be used in your listing posts.

  1. Click Select Files
  2. Navigate to the file location
  3. Click Open

Step 7: Once the image uploads we will be copying the File URL of the image

  1. Highlight the File URL, right mouse click and select Copy.

Step 8: In this step we will be editing the our first post.

  1. Click Posts
  2. Click Edit
  3. Locate the post which you would like to edit and click the Title of the post or click Edit located under the title when you hover your cursor over it.

Step 9: Finally we will add our image to the listing.

  1. Locate the Listing Information tab.
  2. Paste the File URL in the Main Listing Picture field under Listing Information on the Edit Post screen.
  3. Check a Category. This will decide whether the listing displays on the homepage as a New Listing or a Featured Listing.
